Pet Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Maggie

Meet Maggie, a beautiful 4-year-old Golden Retriever with a lot of love to give.  Maggie’s human, Jason, had a career in health care and wanted to stay connected to people and knew that Arbor Hospice was the place to be.

Maggie goes everywhere – kid’s sports games, family and friend’s houses, the farmer’s market and even ran in the Main Street Dog Mile!  Maggie brings joy to everyone she meets.

Outside of volunteering, Maggie loves to swim in Bishop Lake, go for walks in the neighborhood and play with her neighborhood dog friends.  Mags, Magpie, Pup – she’ll answer to all of them, especially if there is peanut butter or bacon involved!

About the Pet Visit Program

The Pet Visit program is just one of the many complimentary services offered at Arbor Hospice. Thanks to amazing pet volunteers and handlers who go through thorough interviews and training, patients can experience the joyful companionship of dogs, cats and other friendly animals.

This type of non-medical treatment can have an incredible effect on patients and loved ones at the end-of-life such as lowering blood pressure, reducing anxiety, and stabilizing intense emotions.

Stay tuned for this fall’s Connections Newsletter to meet more of our furry friends that volunteer!
