ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Feb. 5, 2024)NorthStar Care Community announces its newest affiliate to join their organization, Centrica Care Navigators, effective Feb. 1, 2024.

Centrica’s community-leading presence in southwest Michigan will be a strong complement to the capabilities that Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice bring to the state. By joining the NorthStar Care Community, they can ensure that a strong not-for-profit provider is an option in southwest Michigan for those needing serious illness care for years to come.

Centrica Care Navigators will maintain its brand identity, legacy programs, and continue to provide services to patients and families without interruption while keeping care teams intact. The service area will remain throughout southwest Michigan in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Van Buren counties. Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice will continue to operate in its current service area representing more than 50 counties throughout the lower peninsula.

The Kalamazoo-based organization joins Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice as part of the NorthStar Care Community. This alliance will create the largest hospice and palliative care organization in the state, as well as becoming one of the largest not-for-profit hospice providers in the United States. The combined skills and resources from all three organizations will serve more than 2,700 hospice and palliative patients daily.

“The addition of Centrica Care Navigators to our family of end-of-life brands is an important step to protect and preserve the not-for-profit hospice mission,” said Patrick Miller, president and CEO of NorthStar Care Community. “The collaboration of our mission-driven organizations will reinforce the growth and resilience of not-for-profit hospice care in Michigan, and will ensure that high-quality, comprehensive end-of-life care is available to all regardless of their age, diagnosis or financial circumstances.”

“In NorthStar, we have a partner to help us achieve economies of scale,” said Kelly McCormick, CEO of Centrica Care Navigators. “We’ll be able to guide our patients and families through serious illness with the help, knowledge and best practices of a larger group of mission-aligned experts.”

With the partnership of Centrica Care Navigators, NorthStar Care Community will now employ more than 1,000 individuals and utilize more than 600 volunteers throughout the state of Michigan.
