Metro Detroit Kids to Gain Valuable Grief-Coping Skills at Camp Good Grief

Arbor Hospice and Hospice of Michigan are accepting applications from now until Friday, June 28 for its annual Camp Good Grief, which will be held on Friday, August 9 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa, 7300 Hickory Ridge Rd. in Holly, Michigan. The camp is open to any child dealing with grief, regardless of whether or not their loved one received care from Hospice of Michigan or Arbor Hospice. To register, visit hom.convio.net/camp.

Camp Good Grief is a free, one-day camp for children ages 8-17 that combines a variety of fun activities with grief education and emotional support. All activities are facilitated by caring and qualified Arbor Hospice and Hospice of Michigan grief professionals and trained volunteers, along with the experienced staff at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa. Throughout the day, campers will enjoy fun and adventurous recreation including arts and crafts, rock climbing, canoeing and other team-building activities. The camp gives children an opportunity to address their feelings, remember their loved ones and create friendships that last long after camp is over.

Campers will have the opportunity to explore and play on acres of groomed fields and natural woods around Fish Lake, and parents can trust the adventures at Camp Ohiyesa are led by well-trained Camp staff whose umber one focus is their campers.

Lunch and a snack are included with registration.
