Judy’s Music Therapy Story

“Where words fail, music speaks.” Hans Christian Andersen

At 91, Judy lives with Alzheimer’s in the comfort of her rural home, surrounded by the care of her loving grandkids and family. Over the past five years, Alzheimer’s has gradually impacted Judy’s memory and ability to express herself.

But when the familiar melodies from Arbor Hospice’s music therapy fill the air, something extraordinary happens. A lifelong music enthusiast, Judy comes alive to her favorite songs—singing along, smiling, and even conducting with her hands.

“When Colette, the music therapist comes, Judy is alert, dancing and singing along to the music. It’s truly amazing,” says Sheryl, Judy’s granddaughter.

Music has a unique power to spark memories and evoke emotions tied to some of our most treasured moments. Thanks to the generosity of donors, patients like Judy can experience the profound benefits of music therapy*, regardless of their financial circumstances.
