ANN ARBOR, Mich. (May 28, 2021) – Arbor Hospice will host Heroes for Arbor Hospice to benefit The Residence of Arbor Hospice on Tuesday, June 22 at Eagle Crest Golf Club, located at 1201 S. Huron St. in Ypsilanti, Mich. The safe, socially distant golf outing will begin with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
All proceeds from the Heroes for Arbor Hospice golf outing will support essential services at The Residence of Arbor Hospice.
A pillar throughout the greater Ann Arbor area and the only one of its type in the community, The Residence of Arbor Hospice, located at 440 W. Russell St. in Saline, Mich., has been serving hospice patients and their families across southeast Michigan since 1998. This invaluable resource provides essential services for families who can no longer take care of loved ones safely and effectively at home – offering short-term inpatient care to effectively manage pain and symptoms in a comfortable, supportive environment. Extensive medical support and attention also allows the not-for-profit to take on more complex end-of-life cases – which lets patients and their families, from all walks of life – focus on enjoying their final days together in peace and comfort.
“As often the case, reimbursement for Medicaid patients and services has changed this past year – but our commitment to patient care has not” noted Judy Vindici, philanthropy manager at Arbor Hospice. “For more than two decades, donations from the community have helped us provide an extraordinary level of in-patient care at The Residence of Arbor Hospice, and we are extremely grateful for that. We will not change what we do for the community, and the reason we can do that is because of our dedicated donors that continue to support us.”
Room and board reimbursement for Medicaid patients is funded through a special grant program and has an annual cap amount for each hospice inpatient unit across the state. The cost of care continues to rise each year, often lagging behind reimbursement levels.
The golf outing to support Arbor Hospice will feature closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests for men and women, along with a beat-the-pro hole and a 50/50 raffle. Golfers will also have the opportunity to win a two-year prepaid lease for a Lincoln Corsair, courtesy of Varsity Lincoln, if they earn a hole-in-one. Additional hole-in-one prizes include a set of Touredge EXS clubs (driver, 3-wood and 5-wood), a five-day, four-night adventure cruise aboard the winner’s choice of dozens of different cruise routes and a winner’s choice between a YETI Roadie 20 Hardwall or Hopper Flip 12 soft cooler.
Tickets are $250 per golfer and include a round of golf with cart, along with breakfast, lunch and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.arborhospice.org/GOLF.
Arbor Hospice wishes to thank the following hole-in-one sponsors for donating at least $5,000 to the Heroes for Arbor Hospice fundraiser: Bank of Ann Arbor, Dunning Toyota, Rehmann, Varsity Ford and Varsity Lincoln. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available and start at $1,500. For more information on sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kim Streich at (734) 794-5120 or kstreich@arborhospice.org.
