ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Dec. 17, 2020) – Arbor Hospice announces Naomi Avril, MA, LPC, NCC as grief support services manager for the Washtenaw County-based nonprofit. Avril’s primary responsibilities include development and implementation of grief support service and educational programs for bereaved individuals including Arbor Hospice families and community members.
Before joining Arbor Hospice, Avril developed a passion of working with seniors while employed at a variety of local organizations including an assisted living facility, private practice counseling office and a hospice. She saw a great need for mental health services in this population, particularly surrounding issues with grief and loss.
“When the opportunity to join the Arbor Hospice grief support team arose, I felt a calling to this work – putting my skills and passion into supporting the bereaved in our community,” says Avril. “It is a blessing and an honor to be able to join people in their pain, so they don’t have to go through it alone.”
She received her Bachelor of Arts in art therapy from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Avril is Licensed Professional Counselor through the American Counseling Association and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. She is also a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
Avril currently resides in Ypsilanti with her spouse and daughter.
