Arbor Hospice Welcomes Emily Olson as Director of Philanthropy

Olson brings nearly 10 years of fundraising experience to the not-for-profit hospice organization

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Oct. 29, 2024)
Arbor Hospice announces Emily Olson as its director of philanthropy. In this role, she focuses on building relationships with current and prospective donors, expanding awareness and soliciting financial support for the not-for-profit organization.

Olson’s volunteer hospice experience drew her to this role. As part of her University of Michigan graduate program, she donated her time and talent as a bedside musician for end-of-life patients served by Arbor Hospice. Olson also experienced the transformative grace of hospice care sitting beside her grandmother as she took her last breath. Later, Olson offered comfort and healing through music serving end-of-life patients and their families as a certified music practitioner.

“Emily has come full circle in her new role at Arbor Hospice – raising awareness and funding to support compassionate end-of-life care for all,” said Barbara Anderson, associate vice president of philanthropy for Arbor Hospice. “Her fundraising efforts will support hospice and palliative care, as well as integrated therapies including music and massage, for all those who need it – regardless of age, diagnosis or financial circumstance.”

Prior to joining Arbor Hospice, Olson served as the development manager for the Kerrytown Concert House where she managed fundraising initiatives, wrote grants, and supported special events, as well as the director of development for the Friends of the Children’s Creative Center where she directed fundraising activities, coordinated outreach for volunteers, students and community members and supported marketing activities for the organization.

Olson, an Ann Arbor, Michigan resident, earned a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
