Yes! Arbor Hospice proudly ensures that money raised for a specific community or specific program will stay in that community/program, providing friends and neighbors support when they need it, and honoring your wish to support what you’re most passionate about.
There is no obligation to share your legacy giving plans with us. However, informing Arbor Hospice of your gift allows us to express gratitude and help ensure the gift is used as you intend.
There is no legal requirement to inform family members of your gift. However, communicating your intention to make a gift from your will or from a beneficiary designation to Arbor Hospice can prevent surprises, reduce the potential for disputes during probate, and help your family understand the values behind your decision.
Gifts made to charity through your estate may help reduce estate taxes. In many cases, the value of a charitable gift is removed from the taxable portion of an estate, which can lessen the tax burden on your heirs.
A bequest is a gift written into your will or living trust. A beneficiary designation is a separate instruction attached to a specific account, such as an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund, that directs assets to a named recipient upon your death.
Important: Beneficiary designations typically override what is written in your will. Both are effective ways to leave a legacy gift, but they are established through different documents and processes.
